The organization differences

• In Italy both teachers and students took part to
  the organization, instead in Holland the students
  took care of that more than teachers.
• Italian students had to make some projects about
  the exchange before and after the two weeks, they
  didnt so.
• The Dutch didnt have the program about what we
  all had to do, while we knew it day to day.

The culture differences

• They change their classmates every year and they
  have to move when the lesson is finished.
• They usually have lunch at school.
• Often they dont have homework to do because they
  have some hours for that at school.
• Its normal for the girls to go to school wearing
  high heels and elegant clothes like dresses or
  little skirts.
• They are used to go by bike everywhere also at
  4.00 am after the disco and even under the rain.
• They get a part-time job.

• They dont drink while the meals and they prefer
  to drink juice and syrups rather than water.
• The food was not so different but the flavors are
  not the same.
• They have dinner at 6.00 pm, instead we have it
  at around 8.00.
• In the little cities its difficult to find
  flats.
• After 6.00 oclock you can not find people in the
  streets.
• Their lifestyle is cheaper than ours.
• In Italy also in the little town there is a
  historic centre while in the Netherlands you have
  to go in specific places to find it.

• Their houses are not so close as ours and they
  look all the same almost everyone has a garden
  and is quite big.

Stereotypes about Holland

• Before leaving we thought that most of the time
  we had to go by bike and we found out it was
  true.
• We were looking forward to seeing lots of
  colorful tulips but it was not the right season
  for them.
• People are not really welcome like Italians and
  also boys and girls are not so close to each
  other.

• We saw many typical windmills but the weather
  wasnt windy to see them spinning.

• Lots of shops sell many kind of clogs.

• Its also true that the weather is often rainy,
  cloudy and windy.

• In Amsterdam there are lots of sex and coffee
  shops.

• Almost every roof is really high and pointed so
  they are very different from ours.

Stereotypes about Italy

• Dutch people expected to eat pizza and pasta and
  they really did it.
• We are more sociable and friendly.
• Because of the fact that we usually use cars
  there is more pollution.

• Italy is full of works of art and museums and
  they were not used to behave in them.

• They thought the weather was ever nice and it has
  been sunny but not too hot.
