    their interactions with the MDGs.

MDG Explorers
  • 7th Graders develop global understanding by
  • spending 2 days outside on our 40 acre campus
  • becoming a citizen of a city in China, India,
    Africa, or Afghanistan
  • experiencing shortfalls in money, food, and other
    resources
  • undertaking challenges on our high and low ropes
    courses
  • working toward completing a development project
    linked to MDGs.

7
Composition
  • 8th Graders build on MDG Explorers by
  • Researching one of the MDGs
  • Proposing and arguing for a new MDG
  • Developing an activity that promotes the MDGs or
    links them to service learning.

8
Service Learning
  • Middle School students go to several agencies in
the community three times per year.
  • We have tried to select agencies based on the
    ideas in the MDGs.

9
Episcopal Nature of the School
  • We are able to relate our work with the MDGs to
    the message of the Gospel.
  • Students have designed and lead chapel services
    based on the MDGs.

10
Participants in our session

  • will see examples of student work
  • will hear what students have to say about the
    MDGs
