    of CIHR. The Portfolio is responsible for

    Health Organizations Partnership Program)
  • Knowledge Synthesis and Exchange (including
    leading Knowledge Synthesis, KTA, Partnerships in
    Health Systems Improvement (PHSI) programs)

Ethics Office
  • CIHR's Ethics Office is responsible for
  • Developing and implementing research ethics
    policies (i.e. Stem Cell Oversight, Guidelines
    for Health Research on Aboriginal People).
  • Building capacity and supporting research on
    ethics.
  • Providing advice to the research community on
    ethical issues and public policy and legislative
    issues.

Institutes
  • There are 13 virtual Institutes embracing a range
    of research from fundamental bio-medical and
    clinical research, to research on health systems,
    health services, the health of populations,
    societal and cultural dimensions of health and
    environmental influences on health.
  • Each Institute is led by a Scientific Director,
    who is in turn aided by an Advisory Board.
    Institute Scientific Directors and Advisory
    Boards work under the guidance of the CIHR
    Governing Council.
