• Writers use commas for lots of different reasons.
  The most important reason to use a comma is to
  cause a small pause. Try reading this sentence
  remembering to pause at each comma The big,
  hairy, dog smelled awful!

Comma Uses

• Use a comma to separate words in a list.
  Example Grapes, honey dew, watermelon, and
  blueberries are good to eat.
• Use a comma to separate two or more adjectives
  that come before a noun when and can be used
  instead. Example
  The dog had thick, soft, shiny fur.

• The elephant ran away, from the mouse.
• Rice broccoli chicken and cashews are great
  together.
• My favorite sports are baseball, soccer,
  volleyball, and football.
• The fat lazy cat slept all day.
