The Water Supply
  • 1 of 3 springs is developed and serves
  • 31,000 people in four communities
  • 11,867 cattle, 2,508 other life stock

  • Old Generator Set and Pump worn out after 25
    years of use
  • Community Electricity insufficient to run pumps
  • People carried water for 7 km or more

  • Pays for fuel and labour for two workers, plan is
    to increase price to build up funds for
    maintenance parts and future replacement
  • 1000 liters for 1.75 Birr to 4.60 Birr

    Canadian)
  • 1 Birr 100 Cents 15 Canadian

An Education for Lesley and Art
  • Until we were actually there, we could not really
    understand the desperate situation of people
    without access to clean water
  • Rotarians working together can make very
    significant improvements for people
  • How fortunate we are in so many respects because
    of where we were born and where we live
