- Click on (upper center)
- Type in term
- Click Relevancy Ranked radio button

- 2. If all are basically synonyms, leave
pull-down on default OR and click Add

- Major/Minor Subjects tell the content even
without an abstract - Major
- causes (etiology) of childrens behavioral

- diagnosis of snoring
- Minor (less emphasis/info on) Polysomnography
9Major Concept
- To get only articles in which your topic is a
major idea, click the Major Concept checkbox
under the button, then click Search .
10Adding Subheadings
- Click checkboxes in front of desired aspects of
topic
- Click on as many as you want. Or dont click any
(for general info.)
- For multiple aspects, set pull-down next to
Add to or.

- On a results screen, click on Search
History/Alerts tab

- Use truncation symbol ( in CINAHL) to get varied
spellings and word forms - Limit via pull-downs and click Search

combine terms (AND/OR/NOT)

15Refine (limit) searches
Type in or use the pull-downs to limit to
articles that fit your criteria. Note Too many
limits may get you 0 results.

- Click SFX to see if our library has this article
online or in print.
A new window lists all the databases thru which
you can get this article in full-text. The last
GO button takes you to the library catalog.

- To mark a result for later emailing/printing,
click on the folder icon at the right or the word
Add below the icon.

Indexed may also translate abbreviated titles
to full ones.

- UF has had 5 subscriptions to this journal. See
under No. of Records 4 for HHL and 1 for HHL
(Online) - Click your target title for more info.

Click on the link next to Location to find
which years (volumes, issues) this library has on
its shelves or go directly to e-journal

checked out to someone else and if so, when its

28Locating a Journal on Library Shelves
- Health Science Center Library Look for the FULL
(not abbreviated) journal title, arranged on
shelves alphabetically, 2rd (1990-now) 3rd
floors (1989 earlier). - Other UF libraries Type the FULL journal title
in library catalog. Look for the call number (a
number that indicates subject matter.) Then look
for the call on the shelves.

email if - your email system handles HTML coding and
- youve come online through EZProxy and
- youve searched PubMed thru the HSCLibrary and
- youve sent your selected results in Abstract or
Citation format. ?
Abstract, Abstracts and Citation formats use up
lots of email memory. Experiment with your email
capacity so you dont close your PubMed session
before youve received all of your selected
citations.
