The fractal behavior of both two-handed
tetra-aminofullerene (TH) homo-aggregation and TH
- (pGL3-control plasmid) DNA hetero-aggregation
(complex formation) processes in tris-buffered
saline (TBS) with a trace of dimethylformamide
(DMF) showed that the stability of
hetero-aggregates in solution depended on the
molar concentration ratio RM, defined as the
molar ratio of mole of TH to mole of DNA
base-pair. Higher RM values resulted in lower
aggregates stability. TH-DNA hetero-aggregates
showed more stable solution behavior than that of
homo-aggregates. The hetero-aggregates had a
looser compact structure as confirmed by scanning
electron microscopy (SEM).
