  on planning for state portal and web guidelines

• Working with UltraSeek search engine
• Recommended a metatag standard
• Dublin Core
• Developed manual on how to create Dublin Core
  metatags (based on Minnesota Eileen Quam)
• Statewide contract with TagGen- Dublin Core

• Held 12 training sessions for state agency staff
• Hired three full time staff to metatag agency web
  pages for 6 months
• Provided metatagging for 9 agencies
• Provided assistance in assigning subject headings

• Established topic tree (worked with Illinois
  State Library)
• Contributed ideas and new headings to Jessica
  Milstead
• Placed topic tree on the web for use by state
  agency staff (used MultiTes)
• Placed the topic tree in TagGen
• Placed PDF version on web so agencies could

• Created subject directory for state portal

• Maintain the thesaurus
• Continued training and consultation with state
  agencies
• Work with DOA on means of archiving state
  publications

• Ongoing method of developing the multi-state
  topic tree

• Resolve perceived need for more detailed subject
