  • Being a friend to everyone
  • Always trying your best in school.

  • Students can earn ____ points per day.

How are points earned?
  • Students earn points by
  • Not interfering with learning, safety, and
    well-being of others.
  • By doing what is expected the best they can.

  • Signed and returned in 2 days
  • Or a phone call home

Concerns
  • Teacher may have concerns for students who have
    not been doing what is expected or their best.
  • Students may have concerns for interfering with
    learning safety, well-being, only when already
    asked to stop interfering and that didnt work.
  • Concerns are to be helpful, NOT tattling!
  • List of all names are read for concerns after
    giving self points.

Planner
All 7th and 8th grade students should have
planners and write down their points each period.
Elementary students use points sheets on overhead.

  • STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE TO INTERFERE WITH THE
    LEARNING, SAFETY, WELL BEING OF OTHERS ARE
    REQUESTING STEPS.

STEPS ARE A REFLECTING TIME TO THINK BACK ON WHAT
YOU DID WRONG!!!

  • STEP 1 SITTING ON A CHAIR AND FACING AWAY FROM
    THE CLASS.
  • STEP 2 STANDING AND FACING AWAY FROM THE CLASS.
  • STEP 3 STANDING FACING AWAY FROM THE CLASS AND
    READING THE SCHOOL EXPECTATION.

STEP 4
  • You choose Step 4 when you are being rude or non
    compliant toward a staff member, or choose not
    to do step 3
  • When on a step 4 you
  • Go to the office and call your parents
  • Go to a buddy room on step one
  • Hold parent conference

  • Any student who violates a Burlington-Edison
    school district rule, can qualify for step 5 and
    be suspended
  • Examples
  • Fighting
  • Graffiti /Vandalism
  • Drugs
  • Weapons
  • Severe Safety issues
  • Insubordination (refuse adults request)

Cafeteria
  • Whisper voices
  • Remain seated while eating or visiting
  • Asking for food, or walking around while eating,
    and/or throwing food IS asking for steps

Hallways
  • School expectations agreed upon at beginning of
    the year
  • Silent when traveling in lines throughout the
    building
  • Non-lines whisper voices
  • Hall passes required at all times
  • Whisper voices in bathroom areas
  • You shouldnt be out of class unless
  • you have permission and a pass
  • Being in the hall without permission
  • is a step (safety) issue

Opting Out
  • When students do not want to participate in an
    activity in class they have the option to opt
    out with the teachers permission.
  • Opting out is when you are sitting like you are
    on steps.
  • If you do not act properly while opting out you
    will go to Step 2.
  • Instead of not earning MYD points, your grades
    may suffer.
