So What Have We Done So Far?
  • The Board has established a Corporate Citizenship
    Committee to drive the whole agenda forward.
    This is the first joint Board of Directors and
    Council of Governors sub committee at the trust.
  • We have signed up to phase three of the Carbon
    Trust Programme.
  • In a partnership with the East Midlands Food and
    Drink Forum we held an event at Clay Cross
    Business park to meet potential local suppliers
    of produce for the Café _at_ the Royal.

So What Have We Done So Far?
  • We are now signing up local suppliers for the
    Café _at_ the Royal.
  • Through a partnership with Polar Glass we are
    replacing all of our windows on-site which so far
    has reduced CO2 emissions by more than 50 tonnes
    a year or fourteen kettles being switched on
    permanently 365 days a year.
  • We have appointed an Energy Manager to help
    reduce energy usage

So What Have We Done So Far?
  • Through the capital programme we have invested in
    replacing our building management system to
    better control our heating and ventilation.
  • We have created an improved waste compound which
    both meets legal requirements and has enabled us
    to begin to increase our recycling opportunities.
  • We have successfully bid for Department of health
    energy fund monies to replace our remaining
    boilers.

So What Have We Done So Far?
  • We have produced a green travel plan and
    undertaken a travel survey of our staff. We are
    now taking forward actions arising from the
    questionnaire.
  • Active engagement with local communities and
    organisations such as CHART, and sign up to the
    East Midlands pledge on carbon management.

  • Harnessing the ideas and support from staff,
    members, patients, visitors and the whole
    community.
  • Not just about meeting government targets but
    about long term improvements for the hospital and
    our community.
  • Review specific areas such as waste packaging,
    food and transport miles, energy usage.
  • Successfully deliver our pledge as part of the
    Carbon Reduction Programme
