    solution, marketing strategy, and competition
    delivered to potential investors. It should not
    last more than a few minutes, or the duration of
    an elevator ride

1. What business are you in
  • Explain in one paragraph or in 10 seconds the
    essence of your business
  • it must be succinct
  • it must be simple
  • there must be an aha! moment i.e. the listener
    must get it immediately

2. What is your business Mantra?
  • Your mantra motivates and drives you your
    team. What is your motivation, why are you doing
    this?

3. No pain, no gain
  • Explain the pain or problem in the market or in
    society your solution to the pain/problem.
  • Alternatively, are you addressing a real need
    in the market that is underserved at the moment

4. The Idea or Solution
  • What is unique about your business idea or
    solution
  • Is it a revolutionary idea? Why?
  • What is the value proposition
  • How difficult is it to do what you are doing,
    can it be easily copied by someone else?

  • What is the nature of the competition
  • who is the competition
  • what are their strengths weaknesses
  • what are the barriers to entry
  • What differentiates you from your competitor

  • What is the potential size of the market
  • Can you realistically capture a fair share
  • How scalable is your business
  • How will you market sell your service/product
  • Do you have a customer acquisition strategy

  • What is the business model?
  • Is it sustainable
  • How will you make money
  • Who will buy your product
  • How soon can you take the product to market
  • How will you execute your biz model

8. The Team
  • Who is in the team
  • Does the team have domain expertise
  • Is there a multi-disciplinary team
  • Can your team execute the business plan

9. Financials
  • What will the cash flow be like
  • When will the business be profitable
  • Are the cash flows profits sustainable

  • Do you have an exit strategy? (Not necessarily
    that you will exit but how when can investors
    exit)
  • Do not build flip a business

What you should be careful about
  • Avoid dwelling too long on one part of the
    presentation
  • Dont be too technology or product centric or
    market centric. Have a good balance of
    everything.
  • Make sure you have done your research know
    everything about your business, competitors,
    product, customer, etc.
  • Be prepared for tough questions, dont tell
    tales (its ok if you dont know).
  • Dont be argumentative, especially with the
    judge
  • Make eye contact, speak to your audience
