First encounter

• Exodus 179 And Moses said to Joshua, Choose us
  out men, and go out to fight with Amalek.
  Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with
  the rod of God in my hand. 10 And Joshua did as
  Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek.

Selection of men to spy out Canaan

• Numbers 132 Send men so that they may search
  the land of Canaan, which I give to the sons of
  Israel. You shall send a man from every tribe of
  their fathers, everyone a ruler among them.
• Vs 6 Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of
  Jephunneh
• Vs 8 Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of
  Nun.

Name changed

• Num 1316 .And Moses called Oshea the son of
  Nun Joshua.
• Hoshea - saved, a savior, or salvation
• Joshua - he shall save, or the salvation of
  Jehovah

Assistant

• Exodus 2412 And Jehovah said to Moses, Come up
  to Me in the mountain, and be there. And I will
  give you tablets of stone, and the Law, and
  commandments which I have written, so that you
  may teach them. 13 And Moses rose up, and his
  attendant Joshua. And Moses went up into the
  mountain of God.

• Numbers 2718 And Jehovah said to Moses, Take
  Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the
  Spirit, and lay your hand upon him. 19 And set
  him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the
  congregation, and give him a charge in their
  sight.

Encouragement

• Joshua 15 No man shall be able to stand before
  you all the days of your life. As I was with
  Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you
  nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good
  courage. For you shall divide for an inheritance
  to this people, the land which I swore to their
  fathers, to give it to them.

Instruction

• Joshua 18 This book of the Law shall not depart
  out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it
  by day and by night, so that you may be careful
  to do according to all that is written in it. For
  then you shall make your way prosperous, and then
  you shall act wisely.

Jordan divides

• Joshua 314 And it happened, when the people
  moved from their tents to pass over Jordan, and
  as the priests carried the ark of the covenant
  before the people, 15 and as those who bore the
  ark had come to Jordan, and the feet of the
  priests that bore the ark were dipped in the edge
  of the water (for Jordan overflows all its banks,
  all the time of harvest) that the waters which
  came down from above stopped and rose up all in a
  heap.

An angel appears

• Joshua 513 And it happened, when Joshua was
  beside Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked.
  And, behold, there stood a Man in front of him
  with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went
  to Him and said to Him, Are You for us, or for
  our foes? 14 And He said, No, but I have come
  as the Commander of the army of Jehovah.

The walls of Jericho fall

• Joshua 620 And the people shouted when the
  priests blew with the ram's horns. And it
  happened when the people heard the sound of the
  ram's horns, and the people shouted with a great
  shout, the wall fell down flat, so that the
  people went up into the city, each man straight
  before him. And they took the city.

Service

• Joshua 2413 And I have given you a land for
  which you did not labor, and cities which you did
  not build, and you live in them. You now eat of
  the vineyards and olive-yards which you did not
  plant. 14 Now, then, fear Jehovah, and serve
  Him in sincerity and truth. And put away the gods
  which your fathers served on the other side of
  the flood, and in Egypt, and serve Jehovah.

Faith

• Numbers 146 And Joshua the son of Nun, and
  Caleb the son of Jephunneh, of those that
  searched the land, tore their clothes. 7 And
  they spoke to all the company of the sons of
  Israel saying, The land which we passed through
  to search is an exceedingly good land. 8 If
  Jehovah delights in us, then He will bring us
  into this land and give it to us, a land which
  flows with milk and honey.

Dedication

• Num 3212 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the
  Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, for they
  have fully followed Jehovah.

Conviction

• Joshua 35 And Joshua said to the people,
  Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow Jehovah will do
  wonders among you.

Reverence

• Joshua 514 And He said, No, but I have come as
  the Commander of the army of Jehovah. And Joshua
  fell on his face to the earth. And he worshiped
  and said to Him, What does my Lord say to His
  servant?

Courage

• Joshua 1025 And Joshua said to them, Do not
  fear nor be dismayed. Be strong and of good
  courage. For so shall Jehovah do to all your
  enemies against whom you fight.

Obedience

• Joshua 1115 As Jehovah commanded Moses His
  servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so
  Joshua did. He left nothing undone of all that
  Jehovah commanded Moses.

Decision

• Joshua 2415 And if it seems evil to you to
  serve Jehovah, choose this day whom you will
  serve, whether the gods which your fathers served
  Beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in
  whose land you live. But as for me and my house,
  we will serve Jehovah.

Dare To Stand Like Joshua

• We are bound for Canaan land, tenting by the way.
  Who shall lead us on the road? Choose your King
  today.

• When the dark Red Sea of doubt billowed in our
  way, then He parted every wave, so He will today.

• Just before us Jordan rolls, just across the way,
  we can safely trust the Lord He shall lead today.

• Dare to stand like Joshua dare to say the word.
  As for me and for my house, we will serve the
  Lord.
