The LCE Philosophy
  • Promoting voluntary collaboration between
authorities only where there is a sound business
case and/or commercial advantage to be gained
  • Ensuring that our contribution towards delivering
cash savings and efficiency gains is over and
above what authorities can do on their own
  • Accelerating the good work and initiatives
already underway at all levels across the region
  • Building on any work or projects already
underway, trying to avoid duplication wherever
    possible
  • Ensuring that all our work is focused on the
needs and priorities of the London public sector

Why do we need to do more?
  • Pressure from central government
  • CSR2007 likely to be more challenging
  • Need to minimise Council Tax increases
  • Public expectations for better services at less
    cost
  • Support our local communities

7
The London Position
  • Infrastructure in place
  • Projects well advanced, many nationally
    recognised
  • High participation levels
  • Significant interest from Members, Chief Officers

But we must now deliver
