Session Details

• What is a chalk-talk?
• Its an informal, hands-on interactive session
  intended to help users get started with a new
  technology.
• What will this session cover?
• The goal is to help novice users of PowerShell
  get over the initial hurdle of learning to work
  with and use PowerShell
• Experienced users are also encourages to attend,
  help out, ask and answer questions and generally
  share their experiences

What is PowerShell

• A Modern Buzz-Word Compliant Command Shell and
  Scripting Environment for Windows.
• As Composible as UNIX shells (bash/zsh), as
  programmable as Perl/Python/Ruby, as
  production-oriented as VMS DCL or AS400 CI

Session Format

• This will be an informal, instructor-led,
  interactive session.
• The instructor will go through some basic
  examples allowing session attendees to follow
  along and ask questions.
• Laptops with PowerShell installed are
  recommended. Questions are mandatory. Really. Im
  not kidding.
• PowerShell can be downloaded from
  http//microsoft.com/powershell

• Getting help
• Get-Help command

• Progressive experience only need to learn as
  much detail as necessary to get the job done
