1Coat of Arms Gdynia's coat of arms consists of a
picture of two yellow fishes with a white sword
in the background placed on the red shield. The
white sword on the red shield refers to Polish
Navy banner and implies bravery of Gdynia
inhabitants when defending the Polish sea. Two
fishes - one heading west and the second one
heading east - present the maritime character of
the city and remind of the old fishing village.
