• The placenta is where materials from maternal
  blood diffuses into. From the placenta materials
  diffuse into fetal blood and flows through the
  umbilical cord into the fetus. Drugs and alcohol
  diffuse from the maternal blood into the
  placenta, then its diffuses into the fetuss
  blood which travels to the fetus into the
  umbilical cord.
