Title: Gender
1Gender
- Gender mainstreaming in education in Bosnia and
Herzegovina
2 OBJECTIVE
- The overall objective of the masters programme
Gender Studies is the education of generations
of experts, who will contribute, through their
efforts and promotion of gender equality, to the
construction of a social infrastructure where a
woman will be, not only formally, but really
equal. This course should, more precisely,
contribute to the following - Support to prospective human resources who will
work on the promotion of the gender equality
perspective in all laws and policies - Promotion of non-discriminatory procedures, as a
basic precondition for awareness raising of all
citizens about human rights and equal rights of
both sexes - Education of the generation of experts from the
area of gender studies, who will promote, through
their efforts and promotion of gender equality, a
different understanding of the society, which
contains a female dimension.
3Target group
- The Programme is intended for persons who
completed the undergraduate studies in humanities
and social sciences, and who wish to participate
in construction of a social infrastructure where
a woman would be, not only formally, but
genuinely equal. Persons who work, not only in
scientific institutions, but also in other kind
of institutions, such as state administration,
non-governmental organisations, media, etc, can
apply for the Programme. The Course will be
mainly promoted in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a
possibility of limited participation of students
from other regions of former Yugoslavia, who
actively use one of the official BiH languages.
4Approach
- The basis for such a wide scope of professions
acceptable for application to this Programme is
the interdisciplinary approach to gender
category, from the aspect of the Programme
structure itself and lecturers involved in the
programme. This approach is considered to be the
best one for the comprehensive understanding of
problems of the inferior position of women in
society, which is based on gender inequality.
Each participant in the programme will have an
opportunity to contribute to the understanding of
the topic from ones own point of view, as well
as to promote the acquired knowledge at the end
of the postgraduate studies within different
segments of the state and society. This approach
only can lead to qualitative changes, because it
affects all segments of social life. .
