What are the GOALS for the region
What are the PRIORITIES for the region
How were goals and priorities identified
How might this affect your work
3AMLR NRM Plan Regional Biodiversity Targets
- T7 Recover the condition and function of
- ecosystems from 2008 levels
T8 Increase the extent of functional habitat to
30 of the region
T9 No decline in the conservation status of
indigenous species from 2008 levels

16What does all this mean?
1. Managing remnants is highest priority BUT we
cant just do this
2. Assisted regeneration through fencing and weed
control is second priority
3. Revegetation is third priority
4. In years 1-3 the focus for restoration will be
on the Fleurieu Peninsula
5. Grassy ecosystems have been disproportionately
cleared and are priority for restoration
throughout the AMLR
6. But first we need to establish techniques for
grassy ecosystem restoration
17What will the NRM Plan do for restoration?
LS1.1 Fleurieu Restoration Project (on-ground
works)
LS1.1 Grassy Ecosystem Restoration Trials
(on-ground works)
LS1.2 Identify and overcome obstacles to
restoration
LS3.3 Provide support and technical information
to private landholders (education)
LS6. Support land managers to manage remnants
(incentives)
18Summary
Restoration projects will be most aligned with
the AMLR NRM Plan and regional priorities if they
1. Are on the Fleurieu Peninsula
2. Are restoring grassy ecosystems anywhere
3. Are buffering remnant vegetation anywhere
4. Are contributing directly to threatened
species recovery actions
5. Have clearly established goals
6. Are large in scale or contribute to a larger
scale project
