ALE Annual Healthcheck
  • Approach
  • ALE approach developed to deliver the use of
    resources score as part of Annual Healthcheck
    and to
  • provide AC with information required to reach a
    Value for Money conclusion for NHS bodies
    (other than FTs)
  • Impact
  • On track to produce assessments for 335 bodies
    for 2006/07
  • Identified direct overlap between ALE assurances
    and 4 core standards C7a,b,c and C21. Information
    has been supplied to the HC in these cross over
    areas.

ALE - NHSLA
  • Approach
  • Alignment of NHSLA governance standard criteria
    with
  • ALE internal control assurances
  • Impact
  • Pilot work at 42 NHS Trusts used by AC auditors
    in 2006/07 ALE assessment
  • ALE assessment for 2006/07 to be used by NHSLA
    for bodies selected for review in 2007/08

SIC and Core standards
  • Approach
  • Recognised strong link between the SIC and Core
    Standards
  • AC and HC undertook a review to check consistency
    of declarations
  • Impact
  • Recommended that DH encourage Trusts and PCTs to
    regard these as one process
  • DH issued guidance to NHS bodies asking for
    greater alignment

  • To help drive more effective improvement of local
    public services for citizens, especially those in
