Title: Golden chain hadith

1
Golden chain hadith
  • Narrated by Imam Ali ar-Ridha (as)

2
Golden chain hadith
  • Once when our 8th Imam, Imam Ali ar-Ridha (as)
was travelling through a town called Nishapur,
the people of the town asked Imam (as) to tell
them a hadith from the Prophet (as).
  • Imam Ali ar-Ridha (A) told them the following
hadith "My father (Imam) Musa al-Kadhim (as)
told me, from his father Ja'far as-Sadiq (as),
from his father Muhammad al-Baqir (as), from his
father Ali Zainul Abideen (as), from his father
the martyr of Kerbala (Husain) (as), from his
father Ali ibn Abu Talib (as), from the Holy
Prophet (as). from Jibrail, from Allah "The
Kalima of La ilaha illallah is My fort, and
whosoever says it will enter My fort, and
whosoever enters My fort is safe from My
    punishment."

3
Golden chain hadith contd.
  • The people of Nishapur began reciting the Kalima.
  • Imam Ali ar-Ridha (as) continued
  • There is one condition to the safety of this
fort and that is to obey and follow the Imams
    (as).
  • This hadith is known as the golden chain hadith.
This is because each member of the chain was a
    Ma'sum .
  • Moral Just to say something will be of no use.
Only when you understand what you are saying and
believe in it enough to follow it then will it be
    of use to you.

Living Beings in other worlds
  • Imam Jafar Sadiq (as)
  • Reference The Great Muslim Scientist and
    Philosopher,
  • Jafar As-Sadiq

5
Theory of Aliens
  • Another interesting theory of Imam Sadiq is that
there are living beings in other worlds.
  • These beings by their advanced knowledge may be
    trying to contact us.
  • However, we do not know them and do not
understand their language and we do not realise
that they want to get in touch with us and talk
    to us.

6
Jinn
  • Imam said that the Quran has mentioned the names
of Jinns, whom we cannot see.
  • It is also prophesied in the Quran that a day
will come when humans and the unknown beings
(whom we cannot see) will meet and live together.
  • No one before Imam Sadiq had said anything about
the possibility of the presence of living beings
in other worlds, who may be trying to contact us.

7
Efforts made (and being made) to prove this theory
  • It was only in late 19th century that Camille
Flammarion of France raised this issue and
presented his theory about the possibility of
establishing contacts with unknown beings of
    other worlds.
  • However, he was unable to test this theory
because science and technology had not advanced
    sufficiently.
  • In the year 1920, Marconi of Italy (who invented
the radio) summoned a meeting of the officers of
Italian Navy that in the wireless station of his
ship, he received radio waves, which without a
shadow of doubt were being sent to the people of
the Earth by some intelligent and technologically
    advanced beings.
  • However, at that time telescopes were very weak
and Marconi was unable to extend the horizon of
    his experiments.
  • Even today after the construction of strong
telescopes we have not been able, so far, to
establish any contact with unknown beings of
other worlds, even though efforts are being made
    in this regard.
  • This is one of the theories of Imam Sadiq (as)
which after 1400 years has still not been proved.
