employment opportunities for residents of target
areas

- Focus is upon
- creating local employment opportunities in, or
very near to, areas of particular regeneration
need in the region where there are the most
significant problems of worklessness - Specifically, to support projects of physical
investment contributing directly to employment
creation of target areas - E.g. development of employment sites brownfield
land reclamation for employment use and
projects such as managed workspace which support
local employment generation and community
economic development. - Investment Framework for AA4.3 approved by PMC in
March 2008.

- Key principles to support project prioritisation
- Spatial concentration based on RES priorities
- In GM, this comprises the NEM and Central
Salford URC areas and the Housing Market Renewal
areas of Oldham/Rochdale and Manchester/Salford
and - any additional areas identified by the SRP which
meet an alternative threshold criterion, namely
an above regional-average proportion of working
age population claiming out of work benefits. To
be eligible, either the entire LA district must
have higher than the regional average or if a
smaller contiguous (group of wards /SOA) area,
must have the above rate and have at least 2,500
people on these benefits.
