• To contribute towards the enhancement of the
  competitiveness of the Western Cape agricultural
  production base.
• To support the sustainable use of the Western
  Cape resource base.
• To support the marketing of the Western Capes
  agricultural products with specific reference to
  resource poor farmers.
• To support sound decision-making based on
  scientific quantitative information.
• To contribute towards a reliable agricultural
  statistical database.
• To contribute towards the broadening of the
  representivity of the Department.
