Title: The Pencil Project
1The Pencil Project
The Pencil Project was an effort to make a BIG
difference with such a small item. Julia Pouliot
and Kelsey McPherson helped organize a pencil
collection in nine Brunswick Elementary school
classes from Jordan Acers, Longfellow and Coffin.
In total, the classes collected over FIVE
THOUSAND brand new pencils to send to three needy
schools. The pencils were sent to Estill
Elementary School in Estill, South Carolina,
Mchengautuwa Full Primary School in Malawi,
Africa, and Emiliano Zapata Primary School in
Mexico. As an incentive for collecting Julia and
Kelsey promised a pizza party to the class that
collected the most pencils and candy was given to
every class that donated. All of the
participating classes were eager to donate and
their contributions are going to make a huge
difference in the lives of hundreds of children.
One of the three full boxes of pencils being
sent.
