Title: Haddon Township Project 540
1Haddon Township Project 540
Committee on Community Recreation Presentation to
Board of Commissioners May 16, 2006
2What is Project 540?
- Haddon Township High Schools Chapter of Project
540 was created for students who had a desire to
spark improvement in their school, local
community and nation. - During the 2002-2003 school year, a series of
dialogues were held in every Social Studies Class
at all grade levels. Input was gathered and
evaluated to see what types of changes the
student body desired. - From those dialogues, Project 540 developed three
Action Plans to address the students concerns
School Lunch Program, School Grading and Class
Rank System, and the need for Community
Recreation.
3School Grading Committee
- Developed a new proposal for
- Grading Scale
- Exam Weight
- Final Year Grade Computation
- Class Rank/GPA Computation
- The Committee meets with Department Chairs in
order to prepare a Presentation to the School
Board.
4Lunch Committee
- New lunch tables were placed outside of High
School Cafeteria. - A new Milk Chug Machine was installed in the
Cafeteria. - The Committee meets with Lunch Staff to address
concerns with lunch variety and service during
YAK Sessions.
5Recreation Committee
- Created in November 2004, the Recreation
Committee assisted by Mellon Bank redeveloped the
Basketball Courts on MacArthur Blvd. next to the
middle school. - Our goal is to identify and resolve the need for
a Recreation Center in Haddon Township. - Throughout the past couple of years we have
visited several centers in the surrounding area
to have a better understanding of their programs. - The Committee routinely meets to develop a plan
to meet the needs of Haddon Township and its
residents.
