• The purpose of the University Honors Programs
  ongoing partnership with Belvoir Elementary
  School is to foster and develop in emerging
  health care professionals an understanding and
  appreciation of cultural and community diversity,
  leadership skills, involvement in community
  engagement and a deeper understanding of the
  occupational and health care needs of Latino
  migrant farm workers and other clients in rural
  Eastern North Carolina.
• Both EC Scholars and Belvoir Elementary students
  benefit from this partnership. The Belvoir
  students receive valuable mentoring and tutoring,
  while the EC Scholars benefit from the research
  and service learning opportunities.
