Introduction to Four Seasons

• Four Seasons has two components
• A model of the Earth-Sun system to illustrate the
  changing of the seasons
• A student workbook to go along with the display

• Completed the voice circuit except for the
  soldering of the circuit and interfacing it with
  the rest of the Four Seasons Project

• Designed a mechanical system for Earths rotation
• Purchased the necessary materials for a working
  model of the rotating Earth

Solar Car Update

• Solar Car was delivered last spring to
• Mrs. LeCompte at KES
• Verified the functionality of the solar car and
  made sure it was still in working order
• We will continue to monitor and maintain the
  project over the course of the semester

Bowl Project

• The Bowl project consists of the Quiz Bowl, Spell
  Bowl, and Math Bowl currently.
• The projects involved focus on learning through
  competition.

Spell Bowl

• Spelling competition in which students write down
  the spellings after they are spoken and used in
  context.
• The competition consists of 8 rounds of 7 words.
• KES competes at grade levels 4-5 with teams of
  8-10 students.
• Our goal is to help students prepare for the
  annual competition.

The Spell Bowl Simulator

• A web based Java applet.
• Uses MySQL database software.
• Audio created with ATT Natural Speaking Engine.
• Plays an audio file of the word and accompanying
  sentence.
• Student inputs spelling.
• Student spelling versus correct spelling
  displayed immediately.
• Total results displayed at end of last round

Quiz Bowl

• Quiz Bowl is an 8 player buzzer system
• Students can compete with each other in teams or
  individually
• Teacher can control time to answer and when
  buttons are active.
