  economies in light of the impending W.T.O and E.U
  regulations related to Bananas and Sugar, and
  especially with the world economic downturn at
  this time,a Herbal sub-sector if pursued through
  proper planning can contribute significantly in
  developing Caribbean economies and at the same
  time bring benefits to the health and well being
  of the majority of Caribbean people.

  mine in the region without realizing it, when one
  considers the natural herbal remedies that lie
  within the biodiversity of our abundant flora
  that exists throughout the region. This has been
  demonstrated within the traditions of our
  historical native cultures from Amerindians,
  Caribs, Arawaks, Africans and East Indian
  origins.

  health care been suppressed by conventional
  medicine, the cost of which in most instances is
  beyond the reach of the majority of people in the
  Caribbean . Several herbal and natural remedies
  to basic health problems which have been handed
  down by our fore fathers have received limited
  research and now require to receive greater focus
  in the future. The fight against cancers, kidney
  problems, asthma, high cholesterol and by no
  means least HIV-Aids could very well be found
  within our Herbs.

  economies of each Member State.
• Establish national and regional Consultative
  Bodies comprising of the Medical Associations,
  Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture,
  Caribbean Association of Researchers and Herbal
  Practitioners (CARAPA) and Caribbean Herbal
  Business Associations (CHBA).
• Allocate sources of funds for further RD
  elaboration.
• Facilitate the inclusion of Cuba into this
  important exercise.
