3Art Thou Facts About Sam
In 1603, he lead a first expedition to America,
and a second one, established Acadia. A couple
years later, he made a trading post that later
became Quebec. In 1612, he actually became the
viceroy of New France! A couple years after he
was the leader of the Company with One hounded
associates, Quebec was attacked by English
privateers , and Samuel surrendered, so he was
put in jail for four years. A cool thing is that
he actually wrote a book about the Indians he met
along his way.

As you can see, from 1603- 1615, Samuel started
traveling at Lake Ontario. Later he passed Lake
Huron and pretty soon discovered the Ottawa
River. After passing the St. Lawrence River, that
emptied out into the Gulf of St. Lawrence, he
discovered Nova Scotia and later named a lake
after him,Lake Champlain.

8Viking facts
Leif Erikson and his crew sailed across the
Atlantic seeking unknown lands. He was the first
explorer to set foot in a new world,which led to
a new land. In 960 A.D. Leif was born in Iceland.
He had two brothers and once actually sailed from
Greenland to Norway. His dad was Eric the Red. He
might have stepped in North America before
Christopher Columbus. Leif found New foundland.
At age 24 he was asked to captain his first
voyage to bring gifts to king Olaf.

Did you know there is a Leif Erikson day? Well on
Sept.9 1964 a law passed that Leif Erikson Day is
on October 9th.
10Oh.... the places to go
As you can see, Leif Ericson started his journey
at the Newfoundland, and traveled all the way to
Greenland.
