What are the Essential Standards?

• Guide teachers as they plan learning objectives
  and develop grade-level curricula that align with
  and support their current practices.
• Reinforce instruction in a way that will be
  consistent and will create articulation of
  skills.
• Should be mastered at the grade-level where they
  appear.

• Over 100 Reading, Writing and Math teachers met
  to develop these standards Spring 2005
• Articulation across campuses and across grade
  levels.
• Worked on Performance Objectives and developed
  Student Friendly Language

How do teachers use them?

• Lesson plan templates
• Guide instruction
• They are a basic road map for READING, WRITING
  MATH skills that EVERY student needs to master to
  pass AIMS and graduate from high school.

Galileo What is it?

• www.ati-online.com
• Galileo provides meaningful data for
  decision-making and facilitates communication
  between school and family all with rapid access
  and flexible reporting formats.
• Used for quarterly assessments starting October
  24th, 2005

Teachers Role

• Reading and Math tests will be given using
  Galileo.
• Online vs Paper Version
• Coordinate with MTT, CT and Testing Coordinator
  to decide which version.
• Coordinate with MTT, CT and Testing Coordinator
  to administer these benchmarks.
