1The Person Of Christ
- How is Jesus Deity and Humanity in one person?
2Introduction
- Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man in one
person. - When people can see Christ as God who came to
earth and became a man, they can understand his
compassion to provide salvation by suffering the
burdens that we do every day. - They will know he is the only way to God for
forgiveness of sins.

4Here Comes God to Earth
- Matt 118Â Now this is how Jesus the Messiah was
born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married
to Joseph. But while she was still a virgin, she
became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. 19Â Joseph,
her fiancé, being a just man, decided to break
the engagement quietly, so as not to disgrace her
publicly. - 20Â As he considered this, he fell asleep, and an
angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream.
Joseph, son of David, the angel said, do not
be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary.
For the child within her has been conceived by
the Holy Spirit. 21Â And she will have a son, and
you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his
people from their sins.Details about this topic
5Luke 126 Mary becomes pregnant
- Salvation cant come through human effort.
- The virgin birth united deity and humanity in one
person. - God could have made a man and sent him from
heaven but the connection with humanity created a
deeper relationship than what was not experienced
in the old testament!
6Luke 126
- Lets look at what could have taken place as Mary
is confronted by the angel Gabriel.
7The Word Was Made Flesh!John 110-14 KJV
- 10Â He was in the world, and the world was made by
him, and the world knew him not. 11Â He came unto
his own, and his own received him not. 12Â But as
many as received him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, even to them that believe
on his name 13Â which were born, not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of
man, but of God. - 14Â And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among
us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the
only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and
truth.
8Paul Interprets Our Relationship
- Gal43Â And thats the way it was with us before
Christ came. We were slaves to the spiritual
powers of this world. 4Â But when the right time
came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject
to the law. 5Â God sent him to buy freedom for us
who were slaves to the law, so that he could
adopt us as his very own children. 6Â And because
you Gentiles have become his children, God has
sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, and
now you can call God your dear Father. 7Â Now you
are no longer a slave but Gods own child. And
since you are his child, everything he has
belongs to you.
9John 316 This is real Love!
- 16Â For God so loved the world that he gave his
only Son, so that everyone who believes in him
will not perish but have eternal life. 17Â God did
not send his Son into the world to condemn it,
but that the world through Him might be saved.
10Christ is Human Without Sin
- All humans have inherited guilt and a sinful
nature through our corrupt father Adam. - Jesus did not decend from Adam the same way that
we did. - The seed of the Father came from God without sin.
- Luke135Â The angel replied, The Holy Spirit will
come upon you, and the power of the Most High
will overshadow you. So the baby born to you will
be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.
11Jesus is Free From Sin
- Why didnt Jesus inherit sin from his Mother?
- The Catholic church says that Mary was without
sin! - Scripture nowhere teaches this about Mary because
she was conceived of a human father. - The Holy Spirit somehow prevented sin from
passing from Mary to Jesus.
12Relating to our Sin free Priest
- Hebrews 414Â That is why we have a great High
Priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of
God. Let us cling to him and never stop trusting
him. 15Â This High Priest of ours understands our
weaknesses, for he faced all of the same
temptations we do, yet he did not sin. 16Â So let
us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.
There we will receive his mercy, and we will find
grace to help us when we need it.
13Could Jesus Have Sinned ?
- Scripture teaches that he was tempted.
- Scripture teaches he did not sin.
- He felt and understood the depth of temptation.
- The divine nature in human form prevented Jesus
from being able to be tempted to sin.
14Jesus Grew Like We Did
- Luke240Â There the child grew up healthy and
strong. He was filled with wisdom beyond his
years, and God placed his special favor upon him. - 52Â And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and
in favor with God and man.
15Jesus Got Tired Like We Do
- John 45Â Eventually he came to the Samaritan
village of Sychar, near the parcel of ground that
Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6Â Jacobs well was
there and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat
wearily beside the well about noontime.
16Jesus, Thirsty at the Cross?
- John1928Â Jesus knew that everything was now
finished, and to fulfill the Scriptures he said,
I am thirsty. 29 A jar of sour wine was
sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put
it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his
lips.
17Human Flesh Needs Nourishment!
- Matthew 41-11
- Jesus is Tempted !
- Then he is nourished to come out of the
wilderness.
18Nourishment
- What does the Bible say about Nutrition and
Nourishment? - SorryNOT NOW!
19Luke 2346
- 46Â Then Jesus shouted, Father, I entrust my
spirit into your hands! And with those words he
breathed his last. - Jesus experienced physical death.
20Jesus Physical Mind Grows
- Luke 252Â So Jesus grew both in height and in
wisdom, and he was loved by God and by all who
knew him. - Hebrews 58Â So even though Jesus was Gods Son,
he learned obedience from the things he suffered.
21Jesus was an Emotional Dude!
- 23Â Jesus replied, The time has come for the Son
of Man to enter into his glory. 24Â The truth is,
a kernel of wheat must be planted in the soil.
Unless it dies it will be alonea single seed.
But its death will produce many new kernelsa
plentiful harvest of new lives. 25Â Those who love
their life in this world will lose it. Those who
despise their life in this world will keep it for
eternal life. 26Â All those who want to be my
disciples must come and follow me, because my
servants must be where I am. And if they follow
me, the Father will honor them. 27Â Now my soul is
deeply troubled. Should I pray, Father, save me
from what lies ahead? But that is the very
reason why I came! 28Â Father, bring glory to your
name.
22Emotions!
- John 1321Â Now Jesus was in great anguish of
spirit, and he exclaimed, The truth is, one of
you will betray me! - 36Â Then Jesus brought them to an olive grove
called Gethsemane, and he said, Sit here while I
go on ahead to pray. 37 He took Peter and
Zebedees two sons, James and John, and he began
to be filled with anguish and deep distress.
38Â He told them, My soul is crushed with grief
to the point of death. Stay here and watch with
me.

25Emotions Will Get Things Done!
- 33Â When Jesus saw her weeping and saw the other
people wailing with her, he was moved with
indignation and was deeply troubled. 34Â Where
have you put him? he asked them. - They told him, Lord, come and see. 35Â Then
Jesus wept. 36Â The people who were standing
nearby said, See how much he loved him. 37Â But
some said, This man healed a blind man. Why
couldnt he keep Lazarus from dying?
26Jesus Got it Done!Emotions Motivated it!
- 38Â And again Jesus was deeply troubled. Then they
came to the grave. It was a cave with a stone
rolled across its entrance. 39Â Roll the stone
aside, Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead
mans sister, said, Lord, by now the smell will
be terrible because he has been dead for four
days. 40Â Jesus responded, Didnt I tell you
that you will see Gods glory if you believe?
41Â So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus
looked up to heaven and said, Father, thank you
for hearing me. 42Â You always hear me, but I said
it out loud for the sake of all these people
standing here, so they will believe you sent me.
43Â Then Jesus shouted, Lazarus, come out!
44Â And Lazarus came out, bound in graveclothes,
his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them,
Unwrap him and let him go!
