  • In 1994 S/Sgt. Gary Goulet met a five year old
boy named Lyle who had been stricken with cancer
and had lost his hair. He was ridiculed and
teased by other kids. Gary and several other
officers who shaved their heads in support posed
for pictures. The story received national
attention and challenges went out to other police
agencies to shave their heads as a fundraising
effort for the Canadian Cancer Society.
  • To date over 18,000,000 has been raised for
cancer research by Cops for Cancer in Canada.

3
Together they raised over 900,000 for cancer
research.
  • In 2004, over 100 police officers and friends
from across Canada completed Ironman Canada in
Penticton as a fundraiser for Cops for Cancer.

4
This has become a national event and 100 police
officers friends from across Canada have once
again taken up the challenge. Their goal in 2006
is to raise over 1,000,000.
