Symposium Objectives

• Participants will
• Gain an understanding of the work of Global
  Mediation in supporting disagreement resolution
  in the region
• Consider how local authorities can increase their
  effectiveness at resolving conflict
• Share issues about prevention of disagreement and
  how to resolve disagreement effectively.

Response to Select Committee on SEN (Oct 2006)

• The Dispute Resolution Arrangements which local
  authorities were obliged by law to establish
  following the SEND Act 2001 provide an
  independent means of resolving disagreements with
  the LA or the childs school on an SEN matter
  without recourse to the Tribunal but also without
  the loss of any rights of appeal.
• The Government will evaluate the SEN Dispute
  Resolution Arrangements during the next year.
