  • Following the footsteps of the EU, the University
    Mobility in
  • Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) was founded in 1991
    and the
  • UMAP Credit Transfer Scheme was initiated in the
    year
  • 2000.

  • The UCTS is a credit conversion scale set up
    to promote student mobility by ensuring that
    credits are received by students for study
    undertaken when on exchange with at the host
    university.

  • Arranging the level of financial support to be
    provided by the

  • Ensuring that the home institution makes
    available any
  • preparatory course required by a student
  • Liaising, any necessary, with the host
    institution on the
  • students progress
  • Converting the UCTS credit points and grades to
    home
  • institution.

  • The host institute is responsible for
  • Negotiating the program of studies to be
    undertaken by the UMAP exchange
  • student
  • Authorizing the approved program of studies,
    including any changes initially
  • approved, by signing Section 2 of the Record of
    UMAP Study Form, and
  • providing a copy to the student and the home
    institution
  • Ensuring that the student receives the necessary
    tuition and assessments to
  • complete the approved study program
  • Liaising, as necessary, with the home
    institution on the students progress
  • during the study program

  • The host institute is responsible for
  • Ensuring that the student receives appopriate
    counselling and other support
  • services at the host institution
  • Entering the host institution credits/grades,
    and convertring these to UCTS
  • credits/grades in the Section 3 of the Record
    of UMAP Study Form
  • Ensuring that the registrar issue the official
    transcript to the home institution
  • Ensuring that a copy of the completed Record of
    UMAP Study Form is
  • received and placed on the student records of
    the host institution.

    international linkages, such as those for the
    exchange of staff and students and for academic
    co-operation. As well, they must support the
    activities of international organizations and
    bilateral agreements between countries within the
    region.

Conclusion
  • By fostering student mobility international
  • linkages, the regional aims to mobilize
  • people in a global and diverse society will
  • not be too farfetched. People, regardless of
  • nationality, will learn from each other and
    strive for
  • a better place to live and work together
    peacefully.
