3Advanced Scholars Program Objectives
4Objectives of the ASP
- Provide a program that challenges and rewards
academically talented and productive pupils - Ensure a depth and breadth of student
intellectual development, content knowledge, and
academic skills - Generate objective verification of advanced
student achievement
5Program Overview
- The ASP will employ courses and national
assessments typical to independent schools. - The ASP will augment student resumes, greatly
assisting in the college admission process. - Parents will unambiguously witness the dividends
of their tuition dollars. - The ASP will focus on grades 9-12.
6Curriculum Requirements
7Curriculum Three Core Areas
- English World Languages
- Mathematics Science
- History/Humanities/Art
8Requirement I Curriculum Grades 9-12
- 20 year-long courses in grades 9-12, with at
least six in each of the three core curricular
areas. - Courses will be at Honors or Advanced Placement
(AP) level when applicable. - Three AP classes (minimum) are required, at least
one in each core curricular area. - Formal presentation of a Junior/Senior Year
Research Project (May be credited as a year-long
course)

10Requirement II Academic Achievement
- GPA of 3.5 on 4.0 scale no grade below C
- Minimum score of 1900 on the three section SAT
(Equivalent to 1260 on the former, two-component
SAT) - Completion of four SAT II (Subject Achievement,
e.g. Biology) tests covering all three core
areas two scores of 650 or better, with the
remaining two scores at 600 or better - Scores of 3 (deemed Qualified by the College
Board) or better on three AP exams, at least one
exam in each core curricular area - Faculty acknowledgement of satisfactory
completion of Junior/Senior Research Project
