    Creative and Performing Arts.

The center
  • Peaslee Neighborhood Center, rooted in the
    peoples struggle for the right of self
    determination, is a place that seeks to welcome
    and nurture the involvement of neighborhood folk
    in building a stronger, healthier community.
    Peaslee is a cultivator, a seed of hope, an
    encouraging environment where educational and
    cultural development can thrive and political

Over-The-Rhine
  • Over-the-Rhine is Cincinnati's poorest
    neighborhood.
  • 95 of the people live below the poverty level.
  • Many people have come from Appalachia and the
    rural South.

  • 5,000 apartment buildings are abandoned or cannot
    be lived in.
  • 95 of the landlords are not present.

Services provided
  • Support group for women- A support group that
    meets regularly to help women with their needs
    and problems.
  • Educational- Peaslee Child Care Program teaches
    children from infants to preschool.

  • The homework room-Where children ages 6-11 can go
    after school to get help with their homework from
    volunteers.
  • The music room- The Over-the-Rhine Steel Drum
    Band, Piano and Xylophone Lessons

Steel drum band
  • Have sold over 500 copies of their cd.
  • Have been seen at Reds games.
  • Have also preformed at music hall.

What we did
  • At Peaslee we played with the children and fed
    them.
  • Sometimes we read books to them and they loved
    being held up to the windows to see all of the
    school busses.
  • We cleaned up after them help out around the
    school.

Conclusion
  • We had a great time going to Peaslee.
  • We learned a lot about the children,
    Over-The-Rhine, and the people who live there.
  • We hope we will be able to go to Peaslee or some
    place like it in the future.
