Greater focus on the basics
  • Key Stage 3 is being reviewed
  • Functional skills in English, maths and ICT are
    being developed
  • A framework of personal thinking and learning
    skills has been devised
  • Personal development in the curriculum is being
    reviewed

Key Stage 3 Review
  • There will be continued focus on the core
    subjects English, maths and science
  • Programmes of study in foundation subjects are
    being reviewed
  • Tests will continue in the core subjects,with an
    additional online test in ICT from 2008
  • Teacher assessment in foundation subjects will be
    moderated, and a bank of standardised optional
    tests and activities will be developed

Integrated Personal Development
  • There need to be clear links between RE, sex

    learning, careers and enterprise

  • Co-ordination can create time in the curriculum

  • In the best programmes personal development is
    integral to the whole curriculum

    possibility of a double award
