    is intended to capture the essence of their role
    and influence as forward-looking and dynamic
    proponents of excellence.
  • CETLs will recognise, celebrate and promote
    excellence
  • vibrant, dynamic entities with a visible
    presence in their institution(s), engaging
    directly and purposively with student learning.

  • We envisage that CETLs will sustain and stimulate
    further excellent practice through teaching that
    is informed by scholarly reflection, developed
    through innovative and adventurous thinking,
    extended through tested knowledge to learning in
    new contexts, and multiplied by active engagement
    in dissemination of good practice.

  • Bidding Rounds Stage 2
  • 259 eligible bids were received from 126
    different institutions
  • 106 bids, of which 24 are collaborative bids
  • Leeds Met Success 3 into round 2 bidding
  • Proposed Institute for Enterprise

  • The purpose of CETLs is to reward excellent
    teaching practice and to invest in that practice
    further in order to increase and deepen its
    impact across a wider teaching and learning
    community.

  • To make Leeds Metropolitan University the first
    choice for students seeking enterprise teaching
    and learning across the whole range of academic
    disciplines offered.

What is Enterprise?
  • Enterprise is an inclusive concept
  • the context in which subject disciplines can be
    explored
  • challenging environment
  • an approach, through skill development, which can
    be taken to the exploration and discovery of a
    discipline.
  • skills of being enterprising  
  • corporate perspective (as intrapreneurship)
  • Creation of new ventures, social programmes and
    the exploration of new opportunities

  • Creation of a flagship centre of excellence in
    enterprise teaching and learning - the "Institute
    for Enterprise".
  • Build upon the brand of "Business Start-up _at_
    Leeds Met" - the name of enterprise and
    entrepreneurship at Leeds Met - to create a focal
    point of activity through a physical presence.
  • This will allow increasing numbers of staff and
    students to benefit from existing materials,
    teaching methods and best practices.
