What is the microK?

Why is it exciting?
  • A great deal, it is the most accurate instrument
    in its class, the only instrument to work at this
    precision with platinum resistance thermometers,
    thermistors and thermocouples.
  • The core measurement technology was developed in
    conjunction with the National Physical Laboratory
  • NPL and microK has the sole license for the use
    of this technology for temperature measurement.

The A to D
  • Uses specially designed analogue to digital
    converter used in conjunction with a digital
    signal processor (DSP)
  • Uses a unique adaptation of existing advanced
    sigma-delta ADC techniques to achieve linearity
    better than 0.4 ppm.
  • A further major benefit of this ADC technique is
    its low noise performance,
  • reduced by a factor of 32 over conventional
    sigma-delta ADC circuits.

Accuracy
  • The microK achieves 0.4ppm over the whole range
  • For SPRTs equivalent to 0.4mK
  • For Voltage the specification is 250nV at 20mV
  • Equivalent to 0.01C for a Gold Platinum
    thermocouple at 1000 C
