COUNTERBORES (Cabinet 3)

• Purpose Counterbore the hole for socket head cap
• screw to lie flush or below surface.
• Safety The operator should not wear gloves,
  jewelry.
• Procedure
• Select Screw Size Table1 and Fig 1
• Select Pilot Drill to screw size Table 1
• Drill through hole to pilot size, oil liberally
  Fig 2
• Select counterbore to screw size Table 1
• Inspect tool for jagged edge - Seek mentor if
  jagged
• Set counterbore cutting speed on mill, drill
  press,
• or lathe using cutting speed chart
• Select head depth to screw size Table 1
• Cut counterbore to head depth, oil adequately

• Deburr hole
• Insert Screw Fig 4
