More about WSIB
  • Current premium rate for General Trucking equals
    5.84 from gross payroll. This means the minimum
    WSIB expense a company is looking at is 3,500
    per employee per year.
  • Employers remain responsible for payment of
    premiums on the insurable earnings of all persons
    deemed Workers under the WSIA. Employers failing
    to properly report earnings and remit premiums
    for workers are held responsible for past and
    present amounts due for these persons in
    accordance with the WSIBs policy on employer
    premium adjustments. That could include recovery
    of past premiums, interest, penalties and
    possible prosecution.
  • No form of contract for service between the
    parties can be used to circumvent the
    requirements of the WSIA.
  • WSIB has toughened its policies in the past
    couple of years. Application procedure, obtaining
    clearance certificates and ongoing compliance has
    become more cumbersome and consequential.
    Outsourcing management of the WSIB coverage is
    making more sense now than ever!

NEER
  • New Experimental Experience Rating Program (NEER)
    automatically applies to companies if they pay
    more than 25,000 per year in premiums and are in
    a non-construction rate group. Through NEER,
    companies can earn rebates on their premiums by
    maintaining a good health and safety record. If a
    company has a poor health and safety record, it
    may be assessed surcharges.
  • In 2001 there were 845 fatalities and 81,783
    injuries in Ontario, as the result of motor
    vehicle collisions. Among those killed or injured
    were drivers, passengers, pedestrians, bicyclists
    and motorcyclists. Motor vehicle collisions are
    the leading cause of traumatic fatalities at
    work.

TDG
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods is one of the
    courses offered by RUSSECO Inc. All our employees
    who are involved with the transportation of
    dangerous goods undergo mandatory training to
    ensure that the goods are transported safely and
    in accordance with the TDG regulations. This
    includes the person who prepares the shipment,
    loads it, transports it or unloads it.
  • Upon successful completion of the training
    program, drivers will be TDG certified and have
    a good understanding of
  • the hazards of each class
  • the meaning of colors, symbols and numbers on
    labels and placards
  • that they must have their training certificate
    with them at work
  • how to prevent spills and leaks
  • what to do in case of a spill or leak
  • All instruction materials are provided in
    accordance with the standards of Ontario Safety
    League
