3What is e-Government?
- Use of ICT in the provision of government
services - An Integrated Customer Service, with a single
point of entry, providing one view on all
government services. - Facilitate more accessible government services.
- Allow greater public access to information, and
make government more accountable to citizens.
4Why e-Government? - Objectives
- Improve collaboration between government agencies
through reduction in the duplication of efforts,
and enhance efficiency and effectiveness of
resource utilization - Improve Kenyas competitiveness by providing
timely information and delivery of government
services - Reduce transaction costs for the government,
citizens and the private sector through the
provision of products and services
electronically and - Provide a forum for citizens participation in
Government activities.

- Inter-ministerial committee process started in
June 2003 - Consultative process
- Benchmarking best practices - Canada,
Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia,
South Africa, UK - Cabinet Approval January 2004
- Launching in March 2004
