Purchasing your own Credit Report
  • The cheapest and easiest way to get your credit
report is online. US consumers are entitled to
one free Credit Report a year.
  • You will need to know your social security
number, current address, current employment, and
    date of birth.
  • The most known and trustworthy sites to purchase
    a credit are Transunion.com, Equifax.com,
    Experion.com.
  • Those websites also offer other services, like
credit watch, which they will notify you by email
or phone to let you know of suspicious activity.
Those services will cost extras fees to the
    consumer.

    carefully.

    credit report agencies like Transunion.com,
    Equifax.com, Experion.com.

Identity Theft Precautions
  • Identity Theft is a crime in which an imposter
obtains key pieces of personal information, such
as Social Security or driver's license numbers,
in order to impersonate someone else. The
outcome could lead to unwanted debt, criminal
    records, etc.
  • Prevention is the most critical element in
    avoiding fraud.
  • Shred anything that contains your name, address
or other sensitive data before discarding -
    including invoices, receipts, statements,
    personalized letters, catalogs and pre-approved
credit offers. Use a crosscut shredder for the
    best results.
  • Protect your Social Security number Do not carry
your Social Security card in your wallet. Avoid
carrying cards that display your SSN, such as
health insurance cards, unless needed to receive
    care.
  • Use only trusted web sites for online
transactions. Do not provide credit card numbers
or personal information on any website if you
aren't sure the site is authentic. Choose
companies with secure transactions and strong
    privacy and security policies.
