  • You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him,
for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You
shall not afflict any widow or orphan. If you
afflict him at all, and if he does cry out to Me,
I will surely hear his cry and My anger will be
kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and
your wives shall become widows and your children
    fatherless. Exodus 2221-24

  • For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the
Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the
awesome God who does not show partiality nor take
a bribe. He executes justice for the orphan and
the widow, and shows His love for the alien by
giving him food and clothing. Deuteronomy 1017-18

widows, is God in His holy habitation. Psalm 685

but He will establish the boundary of the widow.
    Proverbs 1525

  • The poor wretches have convinced themselves,
first and foremost, that they are going to be
immortal and live for all time, in consequence of
which they despise death and even willingly give
themselves into custody, most of them.
Furthermore, their first law-giver Jesus Christ
persuaded them that they are all brothers of one
another. Therefore they despise all things
    indiscriminately and consider them common
property. Lucian, Greek satirist, 120-200 AD
