    chamber and incineration annihilating a total of
    approximately 400,000 people, most of them Jewish
    women, children and old men.

    behind at a number of camps, and especially at
    Auschwitz in 1944.

  • Pit burning became a method of corpse disposal.
    The pits had indentations at one end for fat
    drainage. The stokers poured oil, alcohol, and
    quantities of boiling fat on bodies.
