SETF in Transition
  • Proposal to sunset the SETF and transfer its work
    and responsibility to a new joint committee of
    the Educational Activities Board and the
    Standards Association Board of Governors The
    committee to be called EA/SA Joint Standards
    Education Committee (SEC)
  • The SA BoG will consider the formation of the
    joint SEC at its February 23, 2006 meeting
  • Agreement on SEC leadership and membership terms
    and responsibilities
  • Inclusion of additional educational products
    addressing the needs of practising engineers
  • Proposal will not require any increase in 2006 of
    SA Staff, Volunteer, or financial resources.

IEC Paper CompetitionIEC Centenary Challenge
  • IEEE-SA has joined the IEC as the founding
    partner but needs support of EAB for call for
    papers
  • Call for papers from academia on the economic,
    business and social impact of international
    standards opened 21 October 2005 and closes 1
    September 2006
  • The paper review and evaluation processes are
    broken into three regions each with a volunteer
    Advisory Board Americas (IEEE), Europe (IEC),
    and Asia (IEC)
  • The three Advisory Boards will recommend up to 10
    papers to the Executive Review Council (ERC)
    which will select the top 3 papers
  • An awards ceremony will be held in London on 14
    December 2006
