Audacity

• Free audio editor and recorder
• Create WAV or AIFF files suitable for burning to
  CD
• Create MP3 files, a universal compressed audio
  format that will play on iPods and other portable
  devices

  for Windows or Mac OS X

• Click the Record Button to record.

• (2) When recording is done, choose Export As
  MP3 from the File menu to create a MP3 sound
  file.

• How to insert sound files/video files you have
  in your computer into PowerPoint

• Format - Slide Layout - Choose a layout with
  the Media Clip insert icon - Double click the
  icon - Choose a file you have in your computer
• Or you can just drag the file into your
  slide.

• Format - Slide Layout - Choose a layout with
  the Media Clip insert icon (from Content
  Layouts, Text and Content Layouts, or Other
  Layouts) - Double click the icon - Click
  Import button - Choose a file you have in your
  computer - Click Add button - Select the
  file you just added to the Media Clip and click
  OK button

• Mac PC
• If you want to add sound/movie files to other
  layouts (e.g. Blank layout), after selecting the
  layout, take the following steps Insert -
  Movies and Sounds - Movie from File (or Sound
  from File) - Choose a file you have in your
  computer

• Not all video file types are supported by both
  PC and Mac versions of PowerPoint. For example,
  video files created with Quick Time (.mov) cant
  be inserted into the PC version of PowerPoint.
  In such a case, you need to use a video converter
  such as Kates Video Converter 1.8 (freeware)
