Safety Rules

• ALWAYS follow the directions given by the teacher!

• Stay at your assigned lab station unless given
  different instructions by the teacher.
• Do NOT begin an experiment until told to do so.
• Stay with your assigned lab group. One person
  will get supplies for your lab group.

• Follow all instructions carefully. When in
  doubt, ask the teacher.
• Report ALL injuries immediately to your teacher.
• Any misbehavior or violation of rules could
  result in a zero for your lab grade, an alternate
  assignment, no longer being able to participate
  in lab, or an office referral.

• Always wear goggles when instructed
• or you may wear this instead!

Testing for odors

• Always waft by waving your hand over the top of
  the container to push the odor toward you and
  sniffing cautiously

Glassware Safety

• Never use cracked or chipped glasswarereport it
  to the teacher immediately.
• Never heat empty, closed or dry glassware.
• Never look into anything that is heating or point
  it toward someoneAlways wear your goggles.

Waste Disposal

• Tell the teacher if any spills or broken
  equipment occurs and he/she will instruct you on
  how to clean it up.
• All equipment must be returned to its proper
  place.
• Your work surface must be clean and dry before
  you will be dismissed.
• LEAVE THE LAB ONLY WHEN YOUR GROUP HAS BEEN
  RELEASED BY THE TEACHER.

How should I dress??
Closed toe shoes are better so if any spills
occur or glass is broken you wont cut your feet!
If you have long hair make sure that you have an
elastic band or a hair clip to tie it back. This
will help to keep it out of the way which is much
safer.

Never eat or Taste in labs!!

Protect yourself
Wash you hands well after experiments
Never reach across a hot plate or any other
surfaces that have flames or hot temperatures.
