When is a PDP submitted
  • The development phase of a PDP is not a personnel
    action. Therefore, it does not appear on the
    Personnel Action Dates schedule.
  • Colleges establish timelines for completion of
    PDPs.
  • PDPs should be completed by the end of Fall
    semester.

Where does a PDP go?
  • Personnel Action File (PAF)
  • Submitted as part of Periodic Evaluation (or
    short review)
  • Inserted into Section 4 of the WPAF

Retention Period
  • After the Periodic Evaluation for second year
    retention, subsequent terms of retention prior to
    tenure and promotion normally shall be two
    years.

    administrator may request that the President or
    her/his designee grant a one-year retention
    period for a candidate he/she deems would benefit
    from an additional Performance Review.

Who submits a WPAF?
  • All continuing probationary faculty with a
    one-year reappointment or who are in their second
    year of a two-year reappointment
  • All probationary faculty applying for
    Tenure/Promotion
  • All tenured faculty applying for Promotion

What is a WPAF?
  • Described in Appendix J Section V.E.
  • PDPs are inserted into Section 4 of the WPAF.
    Generally these are completed in the previous
    review cycle.
  • Recommendation letters
  • Peer and administrative reviews should recommend
    either a one or two-year reappointment for
    probationary faculty seeking retention.
  • IUPC should review PAF to insure that all
    pertinent documents are incorporated into the
    WPAF before close date

When is the WPAF submitted?
  • Personnel Action Dates 2006-2007
  • Probationary Faculty seeking Retention August
    30, 2006 (unless Spring 2006 reappointment letter
    specified otherwise).
  • Probationary Faculty applying for
    Tenure/Promotion, including Early Tenure
    September 18, 2006.
  • Tenured Faculty applying for Promotion October
    16, 2006

Post-Tenure Review
  • Article 15.29
  • Intervals no greater than five years
  • FERP faculty are subject to Post-Tenure Review
  • Tenured Assistant and Associate Professors are
    subject to Post-Tenure Review in five-year
    intervals if they are not applying for Promotion
