The End of 1952, Cold Turkey
I made up my mind I was getting off dope. I was
sick and tired of it. You know you can get tired
of anything. You can even get tired of being
scared. I laid down and stared at the ceiling for
twelve days and I cursed everybody I didnt like.
I was kicking it the hard way. It was like having
a bad case of flu, only worse. I lay in a cold
sweat. My nose and eyes ran. I threw up
everything I tried to eat. My pores opened up and
I smelled like chicken soup. Then it was over.

- In 1954, Miles has completely kicked the
addiction.
- In 1955, Miles contract with Prestige Records
gets bought out by Columbia Records.
- Once Miles signed with Columbia, his career
turned for the better.

I dont think nothing about death. I should have
been dead a long time ago. But it missed me when
I was on dope. Thats why I dont have any fear
in my eyes. Some people accuse me of being mean
and racist because I dont bow and scrape. When
they look in my eyes and dont see fear they know
its a draw.
