Online Classes
  • Are you teaching an online class? Do you want to
add more variety to your class? Do you want to
    challenge your students?

3
Online Classes
  • Well, adding a group project to your online class
will provide you with one more tool to test how
well your students are learning the material
    covered during the semester.

4
Group Projects
  • Group projects are a challenging and engaging way
to help your students not only apply what they
have learned, but also learn the fine art of
participation and communication in todays global
    environment.

Student Evaluations
  • At the end of the semester I give the students
and opportunity to evaluate the class. The
following are answers to the question, Do you
think the group project was a valuable
    experience?

9
Negative Responses
  • It wasnt in my group. I found that most people
didnt really participate in it, and rather were
followers. I would rather have the project done
    on my own.
  • Not really because about half my group didnt
    participate enough.

10
  • The group project was not a valuable experience
because as you know it was hard getting everyone
to be involved in the project until the last
minute. Then everyone was going with whatever
they had and no time to truly discuss other
    scenarios.
  • Not necessarily, just because I think it was
something we all could have done on our own.

11
Do you think the group project was a valuable
experience
  • Most negative responses came about because some
    of the students were procrastinators.
  • By monitoring the discussions I was able to
identify the students that were not
participating. Those students would receive a
different grade to those who did participate.

12
Do you think the group project was a valuable
experience?
  • Positive Responses
  • The group assignment was a great experience for
me because I worked with true Leaders.
  • The group project was a great experience and
very valuable from a teaming perspective. We
learned a lot from each other and worked very
    well together.

13
Do you think the group project was a valuable
experience?
  • I thought it was good to work with a group
because we could learn from other students
    mistakes or suggestions
  • Yes, I think that its nice to interact with
each other in some manner since we dont actually
    go to class.

14
Do you think the group project was a valuable
experience?
  • Yes, working together gave an opportunity to
help each other with questions and issues and to
offer suggestions on ways to make each persons
    part better.
  • Yes, it was. It is a real world example of what
we have been studying, and a recap of how
    everything fits together.
